Mayor Arthur O'Donnell

Current Mayor of Doaktown - Mayor Caroline Taylor
Born in Fredericton in 1963 to parents Baden and Mary, brother to Robert, Moyra and Rebecca. Arthur graduated from DCHS in 1981 and attended university in Fredericton for 2 years.

In 1985 he joined the Royal Canadian Navy, attended recruit training at CFB Cornwallis and went on to trades training at CFB Esquimalt to become a Naval Communicator. His interests in “Teamwork” led him to many extra duties in the Navy where he became a Ship’s Diver, Fitness evaluator, Ship’s Boarding Team leader, and member of the 1988 East Coast Gun Run team.
 
He was deployed to the Gulf War, Former Yugoslavia, and Fleet Staff for operations in Afghanistan. During his 25 year career he accumulated in excess of 16 years sea time and travelled throughout the world.
 
Arthur married his best friend and mother to their four children, Lorrie O’Donnell (McDonald) of Blissfield. His children all reside outside NB; Pattie in Musquodoboit, Peter in Calgary, Ryan in Barry, and Neil in Eastern Passage.
 
Arthur’s family is his world and his grand daughter Aurora and grandson Owen have Art and Lorrie wrapped around thier finger!!
 
Since moving home in 2010 he has been an active community member. 2 terms as President of Br. 23 RCL, 6 years as Councillor, assisted in bringing Jr B hockey to the area, and sits on several boards.
